PROBLEM:
The client was dealing with extreme infiltration throughout their collection system leading to increased operational costs. In addition, the water authority had to contend with the severe surface loss within the manhole structures throughout its system, necessitating the need for a structural solution.
SOLUTION:
In responding to the needs for a proven, structural and turnkey solution, Engineered Spray Solutions coordinated both the MOT and Bypass pumping for this multi-year project. It was daunting in a number of aspects including scheduling and managing traffic control and bypass to align with as the manhole work schedule. Each structure required a monolithic lining, which included lining the inverts of each structure. A 250-mil lining application was required to extend the life of the compromised assets and restore structural integrity as well as corrosion protection for decades to come.
RESULT:
The project resulted in the client realizing immediate savings on treatment costs due to the elimination of active infiltration within their collection system. This ongoing, WIFIA-funded project is providing the client with a long-term structural solution for the worst of the worst of their manhole assets. ESS has provided peace of mind to the client through the precise planning and execution of the assigned work orders.
