PROBLEM:
35 additional manholes were selected to be rehabilitated as part of an ongoing structural rehabilitation program with the county. Based on a public bid and previously successful rehabilitation projects, Engineered Spray Solutions had been duly awarded an annual, structural rehab contract. This particular work assignment covered 35 manholes of varying depths that were fully deteriorated and experiencing an extreme level of infiltration and H2S corrosion, leading to catastrophic surface loss and the possibility of imminent failure.
SOLUTION:
As a turnkey solutions provider, Engineered Spray Solutions coordinated both the MOT and Bypass pumping for this capital project. It was quite a challenging undertaking as the manholes required a monolithic lining, which included lining the inverts of each structure. The project also included ring and cover replacements for each manhole. Lastly, a 50-year design protocol was used to create a customized lining thickness design for each structure.
RESULT:
As Engineered Spray Solutions had done before, the asset owner received impactful savings on time, costs and the headaches they would have endured with alternative solutions. The project was completed in approximately 60 days, saving the owner nearly 12-16 months of construction time, thereby minimizing return-to-service time and disruption to the area. The successful application saved the asset owner $597,048 and provided long-term peace of mind about the performance of the manhole assets.
